
Santa Cruz Wins Big over Westchester in First-Ever Match-Up

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Westchester Knicks in a 117-91 blow-out victory Friday night in their first-ever meeting in franchise history. Five different Warriors scored in double-figures, as the balanced team effort helped the Warriors improve to 23-13 on the season.
Santa Cruz was led by Golden State Warriors assignment player Ognjen Kuzmic, who recorded a double-double, collecting a total of 27 points and 12 rebounds. Dominique Sutton came off the bench for 21 points, while Elliot Williams finished with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The Knicks received a solid performance from Darnell Jackson, who posted a new career-high 31 points, and recorded a double-double with 11 rebounds. Walker Russell Jr. contributed 15 points and 5 assists, as Durrell Summers notched 11 points in the loss.
An Elliot Williams jumper secured a lead that the Warriors would never relinquish for the remainder of the game just 4 minutes into the first quarter. Santa Cruz would lead by as many as 33 points and outpaced the Knicks in every major statistical category. The Warriors led in field goal percentage (54%-44%), rebounds (53-37), assists, (21-19), points in the paint (66-44), fast break points (17-12), and second chance points (21-12). The two teams had the same amount of turnovers (11), blocked shots (5), and steals (7). The victory over Westchester marks Santa Cruz's fourth straight win, and third straight game holding the opponent to under 100 points.
