
D-Fenders Drop Nail-Biter in Bakersfield

Los Angeles (11-26) was led by Vander Blue, who tallied 32 points, seven assists and four rebounds for the D-Fenders. Jamaal Franklin exceeded the 20-point mark with 22 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Roscoe Smith (19 points, nine rebounds), Josiah Turner (15 points), Jabari Brown (13 points, five rebounds, five assists) and Andre Ingram (12 points) all scored in double-figures for Los Angeles.
Joe Jackson (24 points, five assists) and Jerel McNeal (23 points, eight assists) paced the Jam (26-11). Alec Brown (16 points, five rebounds), Renaldo Major (16 points, six rebounds), Jamil Wilson (13 points, 11 rebounds), Casey Prather (13 points) and Mac Koshwal (11 points) all reached double-digits for Bakersfield.
The D-Fenders started out slow, totaling just 20 points in the first quarter, while Bakersfield finished with 27. Blue started knocking down shots early, tallying 11 points on the quarter. Los Angeles turned it around in the second quarter, doubling their first quarter tally and finishing with 40 points behind 11 from Franklin and eight from Blue. Bakersfield tallied 37 points in the second quarter and led 64-60 at the half. Through two quarters, Blue totaled 19 points, while Franklin had 14.
The second half was back-and-forth, with Bakersfield outscoring Los Angeles 30-29 in the third quarter. Blue and Turner each had seven points in the third and the D-Fenders would trail 94-89 heading into the final frame. Los Angeles would go on to outscore the Jam 33-22 in the fourth quarter behind eight points from Smith, but it was not enough as the Jam would go on to win 126-122.
Los Angeles shot .494, while Bakersfield finished at .518. The D-Fenders turned the ball over 25 times, compared to 20 for the Jam. The Jam tallied 16 second chance points, compared to seven for the D-Fenders.
The D-Fenders are home tomorrow for a rematch against the Jam at 6:30pm PT.
