
D-Fenders Fall to Jam Despite 48 Points from Brown

EL SEGUNDO - Jabari Brown tallied 48 points and Vander Blue notched a triple-double (14 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds) in the D-Fenders 116-107 loss to Bakersfield.
Los Angeles (11-27) was led by Brown, who shot 14-of-27 from the field, 5-of-10 from three-point range and 15-of-18 from the free-throw line. Roscoe Smith tallied a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Blue (14 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds), Jamaal Franklin (14 points, six assists) and Alfred Aboya (10 points, eight rebounds) all scored in double-figures for the D-Fenders.
Xavier Munford paced the Jam (27-11) with 24 points, while Jamil Wilson also eclipsed the 20-point plateau with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Jerel McNeal (17 points), Casey Prather (14 points), Renaldo Major (12 points) and Mac Koshwal (10 points, 16 rebounds) all scored in double-digits for Bakersfield.
Jabari Brown set the stage early for a career night, tallying 16 points in the first quarter. The Jam would outscore the D-Fenders 32-28 in the quarter, behind 12 points from Wilson. Smith had a big second quarter for Los Angeles, tallying 12 points on 6-7 shooting. The Jam would again outscore the D-Fenders in the second (32-31), and led 64-59 at halftime. Brown was up to 19 points at the half, while Smith had 14 for the D-Fenders.
Brown picked up where he left off in the third quarter, notching 15 of the D-Fenders 25 points. At the end of three, the D-Fenders trailed 86-84. Brown tallied 14 points in the fourth quarter, but Los Angeles would be outscored 30-23 and fall 116-107.
Los Angeles shot .434 compared to .511 for Bakersfield. The Jam notched 60 points in the paint, compared to just 40 for the D-Fenders. Bakersfield also edged Los Angeles in second chance points, tallying 20, compared to 10 for the D-Fenders.
The D-Fenders are home on Friday, March 6th to host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at 7:00pm PT.
