JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Cody Poteet fired seven shutout innings and Brian Miller smacked three hits on Wednesday, but Brendon Sanger's ninth-inning home run lifted the Mobile BayBears to a 2-1 victory over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. Fans enjoyed a Pure Barre yoga class on the field before the game and a Publix Corks & Forks.
Jacksonville (19-33) led 1-0 going to the ninth inning, Jumbo Shrimp reliever Dylan Lee (0-2) walked Connor Justus to start the ninth before Sanger bopped a two-run shot to put Mobile (20-31) up 2-1.
BayBears reliever Luis Madero (3-2) tossed five scoreless innings, striking out five against two hits and one walk to earn the win. Dario Beltre hurled a perfect ninth for his third save.
Poteet did not factor into the decision. The Jacksonville (20-32) starter scattered three hits and three walks with three strikeouts in his seven flawless innings.
With no score in the third, Magneuris Sierra singled with one out. After Sierra moved to second on a fielder's choice, Miller notched an RBI base hit for Jacksonville's only run.
Wednesday's winning raffle number of 1975105012 won a prize of $94.
The Jumbo Shrimp host Mobile in Thursday's 7:05 p.m. first pitch from the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
