Kennewick, WA - In the closing seconds of the game, his first career shutout alluded him. But, in the end, rookie Nicholas Sanders got what he wanted most...a win.

Sanders collected 25 saves and four different Tri-City Americans (32-34-2-1, 67 pts) scored, as they fought to keep their playoff hopes alive by defeating the visiting Everett Silvertips (37-24-4-3, 81 pts) 4-1 in front of 4,248 fans at Toyota Center. The win, coupled with Spokane's loss to Kelowna, pulled Tri-City back to within 4 points of a Wild Card spot with 3 games left to play. The Americans also won the 8-game season series with Everett 5-3.

In a spirited first period, it was the Americans that jumped on top first. With 3:20 left in the period, Brandon Carlo knocked a puck out of mid-air, and past Carter Hart, for his 3rd goal of the season. Then, with 6:14 gone of the second period, Parker AuCoin took advantage of an errant clearing pass to make it a 2-0 game.

It remained a two-goal game until 2:04 of the third period, when Jordan Roy registered his second of the season. Jordan Topping followed 14 minutes later, with Hart on the bench, to make it 4-0. Sanders would lose his shutout bid with 8.5 seconds remaining to Patrick Bajkov, but it couldn't dampen the spirits from a big win.

Hart finished the night with 21 saves on 24 shots in the loss. Sanders, after stopping 25 of 26, picked up his 8th win of the season. Both teams were a combined 0-for-5 on the man-advantage.

To continue to keep their playoff hopes alive, Tri-City will need another good outing tomorrow, Sunday, March 13 against the Kelowna Rockets (46-18-4-0). Game time is 5:05pm at Toyota Center. Tickets are on sale now at the Toyota Center box office or online at ticketmaster.com.
