LAST WEEK IN REVIEW
Rampage Update: San Antonio polished off the week 2-1-0-0 defeating the Chicago Wolves, 4-3, last Wednesday and splitting the series against the Norfolk Admirals...Against Chicago, Josh Olson tied the game at 3-3 with 6:15 in regulation and broke the deadlock 2:51 later...His linemates Greg Jacina and Gregory Campbell assisted Olson on both goals while helping the Rampage snap a six-game winless skid...On Friday in Norfolk, Denis Shvidki opened the game with a goal at 5:23 in the first period for the Rampage before falling behind 4-2 at the second intermission. Right wing Brent Cullaton scored a last-ditch effort with 4:32 remaining in regulation before dropping a 4-3 decision...On Saturday, the Rampage closed out the two-game series against the Admirals with a 4-2 win as Shvidki recorded his first hat trick this season to lead the Rampage over the Admirals 4-2, before heading into today's AHL All-Star Classic in Grand Rapids, Mich. Newly acquired goalie Brent Krahn also helped by stopping 35 shots, including 25 over the final two periods, for his first win since his reassignmet from Las Vegas (ECHL).
Florida Panthers Update: The Cats spent the week on the road going 1-1 ending the road trip with a 5-4 comeback victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday. Juraj Kolnik and Mike Van Ryn tied the game with goals spread 28 seconds apart in the final 1:47. Olli Jokinen sealed the win with his second power-play goal in overtime to give the Cats the lead, improving 18-23-11-3 overall. Eric Beaudoin also scored to help the Panthers snap a four-game winless streak. On Tuesday, the Panthers spent the night in San Jose with a 3-0 defeat to the Sharks. Robert Luongo, marking 25 saves for the Panthers, suffered the loss. The Cats will spend the week at home taking on Montreal and Pittsburgh, on Tuesday and Thursday before heading to Tampa Bay on Saturday night.
