MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the NHL affiliate of the Manchester Monarchs have placed right wing Dustin Brown on the injured reserve list (retroactive to January 30) and have recalled right wing John Tripp and defensemen Tim Gleason and Tomas Zizka from the Monarchs, Kings Senior Vice President/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today. Brown, 19, re-injured a sprained ankle that caused him to miss 26 games from November 30 to January 22. He originally suffered the injury during the Kings-Chicago Blackhawks game at STAPLES Center on November 29. The 6-foot, 200-pound native of Ithaca, New York, has four points (1-3=4) in 24 games this season after making his NHL debut on October 9. He was selected by the Kings in the first-round (13th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, one of three first-round selections made by the Kings this past summer.
Tripp, 26, has appeared in 21 games this season for the Kings and has four points (all assists) and 26 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 223-pounder from Kingston, Ontario, has played in 24 games with the Monarchs recording 15 points (8-7=15) and 33 penalty minutes.
Gleason, 21, has appeared in 29 games for the Kings this season registering two points (both assists) and 19 penalty minutes after making his NHL debut on October 9. The 6-foot-1, 214-pound native of Southfield, Michigan has also appeared in 15 games for the Monarchs this season recording five points (all assists) and six penalty minutes.
Zizka, 24, has appeared in four games for the Kings this season recording zero points and eight penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 213-pound native of Sternbeck, Czech Republic, has also played in 39 games with the Monarchs this season, registering 16 points (3-13=16) and 27 penalty minutes.
The Kings (21-15-13-5; 60 points) leave today for a five-game trip beginning in Minnesota versus the Wild tomorrow night. That game, which begins at 5 p.m. (PT), will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net, ESPN radio 710 - KSPN and along the Kings Radio Network.
The Monarchs are on the road this week with a stop in Worcester on Wednesday, February 11 to face the IceCats at 7:05 p.m. Then they head to Albany to play the River Rats on Saturday, February 14 at 4:00 p.m. The Monarchs will finish the weekend in Providence on Sunday, February 15 at 4:05 p.m. when they face off with the Bruins.
