Wanvig scores in AHL All Star Game

Grand Rapids, MI - Houston Aeros right wing Kyle Wanvig scored a goal and was a plus-one in the Canadian All Stars' 9-5 win over PlanetUSA at the 2004 Pepsi AHL All Star Game tonight at Van Andel Arena. Also on the winners bench were Aeros head coach Todd McLellan, assistant coaches Matt Shaw and Cam Stewart, equipment manager Rick Bronwell and trainer Jerry Meins. Chilly also participated in the All Star Festivities.

With the game tied at 2-2 in the second period, Wanvig took a feed from Cincinnati's Chris Kunitz and deposited it by Rochester's Ryan Miller at the 8:32 mark. The goal started a streak of five Canadian goals over a span of 6:33.

Next season's AHL All Star Game will be in Manchester, Conn., while the 2006 All Star Game was awarded today to Winnipeg, Manitoba.
