The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled defenseman Mike Weaver from the Chicago Wolves.
Weaver, who is making his first trip of the season to the National Hockey League, shares fourth in the American Hockey League and second among league defensemen with a +16 plus/minus rating. The 25-year-old blueliner has recorded professional career-highs with nine assists and 11 points in 51 games with the Wolves. Weaver has also matched a professional career-high two goals this season.
Last year, Weaver notched NHL-career highs with five assists and five points in 40 games with the Thrashers. Overall, the Bramalea, Ontario, native has registered six assists and six points in 56 NHL games with Atlanta spanning two seasons (2001-2003).
Weaver is the 13th Wolves player to be recalled by Atlanta this season.
