Milwaukee Admirals News Release
OVERALL...The Milwaukee Admirals (24-14-6-3) will resume their longest home stand of the season with three home contests before finishing the week Sunday in Cincinnati. Eight of the Admirals next 11, and 10 of the next 15, games will be played on Bradley Center ice. Entering the AHL's All-Star break, Milwaukee has picked up at least one point in each of the last five games (4-0-0-1) and are 6-1-2-1 (.750) over the last ten games overall. The Ads are also unbeaten (4-0-1-0) in the last five home games and enter this week's action in third place in the AHL's West Division only four points behind the second place Chicago Wolves and nine points ahead of the fourth place Houston Aeros.
THE WEEK AHEAD:
MANITOBA...This is the second of four 2003-04 meetings between the teams and second of two at the Bradley Center. The Admirals and Moose battled to a 1-1 tie back on October 15, 2003. The Admirals are 24-17-1-0 lifetime vs. the Manitoba Moose, including 13-8-1-0 at the Bradley Center.
HOUSTON...The seventh of ten meetings between the teams and the fourth at the Bradley Center. The Admirals are 5-1 vs. the Aeros this season and 2-1 on the Bradley Center ice. The Ads have won five straight games between the teams and are 6-2 in the last eight meetings.
CHICAGO...This is the sixth of ten meetings between the teams and the third in Milwaukee. The Admirals are 4-1 versus the Wolves outscoring them 17-8 overall and 2-0 at the Bradley Center outscoring them 11-3. Sixty-nine of the previous 97 games between the teams have been decided by either one or two goals with the Admirals posting a 38-21-0-10 record.
@CINCINNATI... The Admirals are still looking for their first AHL victory at the Cincinnati Gardens. Milwaukee played at the Gardens against the IHL's Cyclones from 1992-97. The Milwaukee franchise has not recorded a win at the Gardens in either league since April 5, 1996 when they beat the now ECHL Cyclones, 5-3. All-time against the Ducks, Milwaukee is 3-6-7-1 in 17 games, including 0-4-5-0 in Cincinnati. The Admirals are 1-1-5 in the seven OT tilts vs. Cincy.
LAST WEEK'S ACTION...Simon Gamache scored three points (1g-2a) and Timofei Shishkanov added a goal and an assist giving the Admirals a 4-3 victory over the Houston Aeros before 10,137 Bradley Center fans on Friday night. On Saturday afternoon, Wade Flaherty stopped all 23 Utah shots and Jay Henderson scored two goals en route to a 5-0 Admirals victory.
ROAD WARRIORS.... The Admirals rank fourth among AHL teams with an impressive 12-6-3-3 (.625) road record. The Admirals are 2-1-1-1 in their last five road games, 5-3-1-1 in the past ten and are 9-5-1-1 in the last 16 road outings.
900 CLUB...Veteran Tony Hrkac notched two points in Saturday afternoon's game to surpass the 900 career point barrier. The 37-year old, Thunder Bay, Ontario native has 901 points, including 306 goals as a professional and including playoffs he's scored 953 points during his pro career. The 5'11" 190-pound center leads the Admirals with 34 points and 23 assists.
GOIN' STREAKIN'...Darren Haydar (2g-2a) and Jay Henderson (4g-1a) have scored at least one point in each of the last four games. Gamache has seven points (1g-6a) over his last six games and Shishkanov has five points (3g-2a) in his last three games.
AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS...Shishkanov leads AHL rookies with 16 goals and ranks second among AHL first year players with 33 points. The 6'1", 213-pound Moscow native also ranks second among rookies with a +16 plus/minus rating. Brad Tiley (7g-20a) and Curtis Murphy (7g-19a) rank fifth and ninth respectively in AHL defenseman scoring. Murphy ranks second among AHL defensemen and is tied for fourth overall with a +16 plus/minus rating. Wade Flaherty ranks eighth among AHL netminders with a 2.04 goals against average. The veteran goaltender is 11-6-2 with a .924 save percentage.
BETWEEN THE PIPES...Goaltender Brian Finley is unbeaten (4-0-1) in his last five games, including a 1.77 goals against average and .931 save percentage. During the month of January, the 22-year old, Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. native had a 4-2-1 record with a 1.84 goals against average and a .934 save percentage.
