P-Bruins have busy slate of home games this week

The Providence Bruins begin the week in second place in the Atlantic Division with their 22-16-10-2 record (56 points). They will spend this week practicing before playing three home games over the upcoming holiday weekend. The action begins on Friday, February 13 at 7:05 p.m., when the Bruins face off with the Worcester IceCats. The Black and Gold will be off on Saturday, but returns to action on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. to host the Manchester Monarchs. The Bruins will play a special holiday 4:05 p.m. game on Monday against the Norfolk Admirals.

Bruin center Matt Herr will represent the team in tonight's Pepsi AHL All-Star Game in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It is the third season in a row that Herr has been selected to skate for the PlanetUSA team. He ranks second on the P-Bruins with 10-19-29 totals in 41 games. The game can be seen on Fox Sports New England at 7:00 p.m.

Friday's game will be the third of four this season to be televised live on COX 3. Bruins radio broadcaster Corey Masse will handle the play-by-play action, while long-time college and pro analyst Bob Norton will be the color analyst. Adam Alper will broadcast the game on radio.

This week also features a busy slate of appearances in the community by Providence Bruins players. Among the highlights is the third "Tip-A-Bruin" night of the season, on Wednesday, February 11. The event will be held at Dave & Buster's in the Providence Place Mall from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Bruin players will be on hand to help the waitstaff, and sell discounted P-Bruins game tickets, as well as raffle tickets for autographed Bruins' sticks. All proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Rhode Island. The Bruin players at the event will be Tim Thomas, Hannu Toivonen, Kris Vernarsky and Martin Samuelsson.

On Thursday, February 12, the Bruins and WSKO AM-790, The Score will team up for the first of two blood drives. The drives will benefit the Rhode Island Blood Center. This week's drive will be held at the donor center next to the Warwick Mall from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Donors will receive a free pair of Providence Bruins tickets, while supplies last. In addition, there will be raffles to win an autographed Providence Bruins stick and a USA jersey signed by the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team. Bruin players will be on hand to sign autographs for donors from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The players attending will be Ivan Huml, Martin Wilde, Andre Savage and Darren VanOene.

The sixth edition of "Providence Bruins Weekly Presented by National City Mortgage" will air on WSKO AM-790 on Tuesday, February 10 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The show, hosted by Adam Alper, will feature Providence Bruins head coach Scott Gordon and Providence Journal beat writer Joe McDonald, as well as Bruin captain Rich Brennan. In addition, Bill Jeffrey, Board Member of New England Dodge Dealers, will talk about the Providence Bruins/New England Dodge Dealers "Jerseys Off Our Backs" promotion during this month.
