
River Rats look to make up ground in second half

Albany River Rats News Release
The Albany River Rats return from the American Hockey League All-Star break to host the Portland Pirates at 7:00pm on Wednesday night at Pepsi Arena. The River Rats then host East Division rival, the Hershey Bears on Friday night in a 7:00pm face-off. ALL FANS ARE ASKED TO WEAR RED! Albany will celebrate its two millionth fan in team history at Saturday afternoon's 4:00pm matinee against the Manchester Monarchs. The River Rats finish off their four-games-in-five-days on Sunday afternoon against the Springfield Falcons in a 4:05pm contest at the Springfield Civic Center.
Rat Bites:
RW Jiri Bicek moved past current Assistant Coach & Calder Cup Champion (1995) Geordie Kinnear to become the franchise leader in games played (407) on Saturday at Bridgeport. He ranks second in franchise history with 232 points (72-160-232) and was a member of the Devils' 2003 Stanley Cup championship squad.
C Eric Johansson established a new career high of 18 (6-12-18) points after notching points in back-to-back games last week. The Edmonton native needed just 40 games to eclipse his 66-game totals from his rookie 2002-03 campaign. LW Steve Kariya recorded his 250th pro point on Wednesday night at Hershey. The former University of Maine Black Bear has 18 (5-13-18) points

River Rats Rewind: Week 18 â February 2, 2004 (0-2-1-0, 1pts)
February 4th â ALB 2 @ HER 5 â River Rat LW Jiri Bicek opened the scoring late in the first period but the Bears would go on to score the game's final three goals for the victory. Former Albany captain Steve Brule scored the winner during the second period just moments after River Rats LW Joe Hulbig had tied the game at two with his 13th goal of the season.
February 6th - ALB 2 @ PHI 5 â LW Jiri Bicek, who scored for the second straight contest, notched a goal and an assist, while C Eric Johansson scored the other Albany marker. G Ari Ahonen made 21 saves in the third of six meetings between the two clubs during the 2003-04 campaign.
February 7th â ALB 1 @ BRI 1 F/OT â Albany LW Tuomas Pihlman scored a power play goal 6:31 into the first period and G Ari Ahonen made 21 saves as the two clubs skated to a tie for the third time this season. RW Jiri Bicek set a franchise record by skating in his 407th game in an Albany uniform and LW Greg Crozier picked up an assist for the second consecutive match. Upcoming Promotions:
