Samuelsson Assigned to Penguins

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - It was announced today that defenseman Philip Samuelsson has been re-assigned from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Making his first professional playoff appearance, Samuelsson has skated in three games for Wheeling in their first round match-up against Kalamazoo. He registered his first postseason goal in Game 2 versus the Wings. Samuelsson recorded one assist and 11 penalty minutes over five regular season contests with the Nailers. Samuelsson has also compiled a goal and seven assists in 43 games this season for the Penguins.

Samuelsson is in his first year of professional hockey after skating two seasons with Boston College. The 20-year-old native of Leksand, Sweden earned an NCAA Championship in 2010 during his freshman year with Eagles.
