Peoria Rivermen News Release

Playing for the third time in three nights in their third different city, the Peoria Rivermen fell 4-2 to the Houston Aeros on Saturday night at the Toyota Center. Peoria erased two one-goal leads with goals from Phil McRae and Anthony Nigro but saw their winning streak end at three games.

Jake Allen faced a career-high 46 shots and finished with 42 saves while Matt Hackett ended the Aeros' seven game winless streak (0-4-2-1) with 25 saves.

Houston took the lead on their first shift of the game. Just 28 seconds in, Chad Rau picked up a rebound and raced around the net to beat Allen with a wraparound. The Aeros finished the first period with a 20-5 advantage in shots.

Phil McRae tied the game at 1:27 in the second period with his 23rd of the season. Ex-Rivermen Jon DiSalvatore answered back just 6:18 later as he deflected a Drew Bagnall shot into the top corner of the net.

Peoria tied the game once again, at 12:58, just seconds after Hackett came up with a big stick save. Hackett deflected Chris Bruton's shot to Anthony Nigro at the bottom of the left circle, who sent the puck past a diving Hackett.

With Peoria on the only power play of the game, Houston claimed the lead for good at 13:40. Carson McMillan setup Cody Almond for the eventual game-winner after a breakdown in front of the Rivermen goal.

McMillan tapped in an insurance marker at 5:48 of the third period while the Rivermen were awaiting a delayed penalty.

The Rivermen will play their final home game of the regular season against the Charlotte Checkers on Friday night at 7 p.m. It is Fan Appreciation Night presented by Goodwill of Central Illinois. For more information on ticket deals visit www.rivermen.net.
