Chicago Wolves News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY--- The Chicago Wolves took one step closer to clinching the club's 15th playoff berth in team history with a 3-0 victory over the Oklahoma City Barons on Saturday night at the Cox Convention Center.

Left wing Bill Sweatt recorded his first multi-goal game of the season and goaltender Eddie Lack posted his fourth shutout of the season for Chicago.

Chicago (40-26-3-3) increased its lead in the Midwest Division to six points over the Peoria Rivermen with four games remaining in the regular season, and it holds two games in hand on the Rivermen. The Wolves can clinch a berth in the 2012 Calder Cup playoffs on Sunday with any kind of loss by Rochester to Adirondack.

Right wing Darren Haydar tallied his 20th goal of the season and forward Michael Davis assisted on both Sweatt goals in the Wolves 20th road win of the season. Defensemen Brad Hunt and Kevin Connauton and center Jordan Schroeder each added one assist in the team's second win of the season against Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City (43-21-4-5).

Lack (20-19-3) made 29 saves, including 14 in the second period to earn his 20th win of the season. Yann Danis (25-13-2) posted 27 saves in the loss.

Chicago opened the scoring with a little help from a Barons defender at 8:52 of the first period. Sweatt won a foot race to a puck for a breakaway following a hoist pass by Davies and was denied by Danis, but the pursing Barons defender slid and knocked the Oklahoma City goalie and the puck into the net giving him his first score of the night.

Haydar gave the Wolves a two-goal lead on a 5-on-3 man advantage just under three minutes later when he walked in from the left corner and ripping a sharp angle shot off the right post and into the net.

Sweatt's speed once proved to be the difference in the Wolves third strike of the game 1:35 into the second period. Davis provided another good pass through the neutral zone, banking the puck off the boards to spring Sweatt and he went wide to the left side and beat a Barons defender to the net, slipping a backhander through the legs of Danis for his 16th goal of the season.

The Wolves return to the ice against the Texas Stars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10 at Cedar Park Center.
