Canadiens Return Six Players to Bulldogs - Hamilton Releases Five

MONTREAL, QC - The Montreal Canadiens announced tonight that Robert Mayer, Gabriel Dumont, Frederic St-Denis, Aaron Palushaj, Louis Leblanc and Blake Geoffrion have been returned to the Hamilton Bulldogs following the conclusion of the NHL's regular season.

Hamilton also released Brandon Maxwell, Trevor Hendrikx, Jesse Todd, Travis Novak and Ryan Flanigan from their respective try-out contracts following tonight's game.

Mayer, 22, has played in 35 games with Hamilton this season compiling a record of 12-16-1 with a 3.02 GAA and a .906 save percentage. The 6-foot-1, 196-pound goaltender played in 21 games for the Bulldogs last season as a rookie, collecting a record of 9-10-2 while registering a 3.06 GAA and a .890 save percentage. The native of Havirov, Czech Republic played in two seasons for the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL and recording a total of 42-35-5 in 89 games.

Dumont, 21, played 3 games with Montreal this season. The 5-foot-10, 181-pound centre has played 55 games with the Bulldogs this season, recording 22 points (13 goals, 9 assists), 51 penalty minutes and 135 shots on goal. The native of Ville Degelis, Quebec registered 18 points (5 goals, 13 assists), 79 penalty minutes and 128 shots on goal in 64 games with the 'Dogs as a rookie last season.

St-Denis, 26, has played in 54 games for Hamilton this season, recording 28 points (3 goals, 25 assists) while registering two power play goals and 105 shots on goal. The 5-foot-11, 182-pound defenseman played 17 games with the Canadiens this season, including his first NHL game on Wednesday, November 16th, 2011 against the Carolina Hurricanes. The native of Pointe-Claire, Quebec scored his first career NHL goal on Thursday, December 8th, 2011 against the Vancouver Canucks. In his time with Montreal, St-Denis has recorded 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) and eleven shots on goal.

Leblanc, 20, has played in 27 games for Hamilton this season, recording 19 points (9 goals, 10 assists) while registering two power play goals and 99 shots on goal. The 6-foot, 184-pound forward has played 42 games with the Canadiens this season, recording 10 points (5 goals, 5 assists). The native of Pointe-Claire, Quebec has registered 58 shots on goal and displayed +3 plus/minus differential while playing for Montreal.

Palushaj, 22, played in 38 games for Montreal this season, scoring his first NHL goal on Saturday, March 17th, 2012 against the New York Islanders. The 5-foot-11, 187-pound forward also has four assists and 36 shots on goal. A native of Livonia, Michigan, Palushaj has suited up for 31 games with the Bulldogs this season, registering 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists) and 105 shots on goal.

Geoffrion, 24, played 35 games with Montreal this season, registering 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists), 29 shots on goal, and an even plus/minus differential. The 6-foot, 190-pound left-winger played 5 games for the Hamilton Bulldogs since being acquired by the Montreal Canadiens on Friday, February 17th, 2012, registering 8 points (2 goals, 6 assists) in that time, while recording 20 shots on goal and a +1 plus/minus rating. The native of Plantation, Florida played 22 games with the Nashville Predators this season. He registered three assists, 29 hits and 17 penalty minutes, playing an average of 10 minutes and 20 seconds per game. He also played for the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals this season, recording nine points (2 goals, 7 assists) in 20 games.
