
Saltdogs' Burrus, Hawke Named All-Star Starters

LINCOLN, NE - Lincoln Saltdogs outfielder Josh Burrus and first baseman Phil Hawke were named Thursday as starters for the North Division All-Star team. The 2009 American Association All-Star Game takes place Tuesday, July 21 in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Burrus, Lincoln's center fielder and leadoff hitter, is hitting .314 with ten home runs and 30 RBI so far this season. He sits tied for third in the league in home runs, ranks second in the league in stolen bases (23), fourth in slugging percentage (.557), third in extra-base hits (25) and is tied for second in runs scored (40). Josh has played in 48 of Lincoln's 50 games in 2009.
Hawke, the 2008 Frontier League MVP, is batting .326 with seven home runs and 30 RBI. He leads the team in walks (43), has struck out just 21 times all season hitting in the third spot in the batting order, and his .453 on-base percentage ranks fourth in the league. Phil has played in all 50 games for the Saltdogs so fat this season.
The American Association announced the All-Star starting position players today. Pitchers and reserves will be announced in the next couple of days.
