
Explorers Fall in Slug Fest

Sioux City......In a slugfest Thursday, the Lincoln Saltdogs defeated the Sioux City Explorers 14-8 at Lewis and Clark Park.
Between the two teams there were 22 runs and 30 hits in the contest, including four home runs. Brandon Jones connected on two home runs for the Saltdogs and Shea McFeely also hit a round tripper for Lincoln. Between Jones and McFeely they drove in nine of the 14 runs for the Saltdogs. Alex Llanos hit a three-run home run for the Explorers that tied the game at 6-6 in the second inning after Lincoln had taken a 6-0 lead in the first.
With the game tied at 8-8 after three innings, Lincoln scored three runs in the fourth to take the lead for good at 11-8.
It was the first loss of the second half for the Explorers after winning the first two games of the series against Lincoln.
The Explorers will now travel to open up a three-game series at St. Paul Friday against the Saints. After the three games at St. Paul and an off day on Monday, the X's will return to Lewis and Clark Park next Tuesday to face Lincoln in a three-game series.
