Salmon Kings down Thunder with 4-3 win

The Victoria Salmon Kings and the Stockton Thunder met for the second game of their three game set at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Friday night.

The Salmon Kings got on the board first when Milan Gajic notched his sixth of the season. Stockton would respond with a pair of goals before the period would end. First Ryan MacMurchy scored on a shorthanded breakaway when he beat Kings' goaltender Billy Thompson. With less than a minute left Jacob Miciflickier would score a power play goal to put the Thunder up by a goal. Stockton would lead 2-1 after one period.

The King's tied the affair when Kevin Estrada tipped a Patrick Coulombe point shot past Thunder goalie Cam Ellsworth. Gajic would give the Kings the lead when he scored his second of the night to put Victoria up 3-2. That's how the second period would end.

Stockton tied the game up at the halfway point of the third period when Ryan O'Marra put the rebound of a Miciflickier shot off the post in behind Thompson. Less than a minute later Wes Goldie would put the Kings ahead to stay when he scored on a wrap around goal. Final score Salmon Kings 4 - Thunder 3.

Victoria outshot Stockton 37-36. Victoria went 0/9=0% with the man advantage and Stockton went 1/7=14.3%. These two teams close out the series with tomorrow night. Call 220-7889 for tickets.
