Texas Wildcatters News Release

Beaumont, TX-Ross Carlson scored the lone Texas goal as the Elmira Jackals toppled the ECHL leading ‘Catters 4-1 in their first defeat since the season opener on October 19.

The Wildcatters led 1-0 after Carlson put home a Mike Grenzy rebound at 5:08 for his fifth goal of the season and third in two games versus Elmira, but the Jackals would answer before the first intermission. Bobby Robins scored his fourth of the season as he found a way to get the puck past Wildcatters net minder Peter Aubry in the midst of a pile-up in front of the net at 10:59.

Entering the second intermission the Jackals capitalized on several more opportunities as Robins scored his second of the night and Luke Fulghum would register his fourth of the season. The Jackals would carry the 3-1 lead into the second intermission.

Elmira rookie and points leader Pierre-Luc Faubert would register his sixth goal of the season at 13:03 to bring the score to 4-1.

The ‘Catters who fall to 0-2-1 when trailing after two periods, mustered several late attempts but were unable to solve Elmira goalie Dan LaCosta who stopped 29 shots en route to his first win of the season. They finished the game 0-for-6 on the power play and gave up one goal on five Elmira power plays.

Aubry made 27 saves for the ‘Catters but falls to 4-2 on the season.

The loss sends the ‘Catters percentage points behind the idle Gwinnett Gladiators for the South Division lead.

The teams meet again Sunday afternoon at 4:05 in the third and final game of the series. Bring your skates tomorrow and skate with your favorite ‘Catters, get autographs, and take pictures following the final game of this three-game home stand.
