Salmon Kings Add Goaltender Jimmy Spratt

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that they have added goaltender Jimmy Spratt who was acquired from the Toledo Walleye in exchange for future considerations on trade deadline day, March 11.

The Chesterfield, MI native joins the Salmon Kings from the American Hockey League's (AHL) Grand Rapids Griffins, where he was on loan to from the Walleye but saw no game action. Spratt appeared in nine games with the Walleye this season, posting a 6-2-0 record to match a 3.14 goals against average and 0.901 save percentage. Spratt began his 2010-11 season in the Central Hockey League (CHL), going 1-2-0 in five games with the Rapid City Rush.

The 25-year-old netminder split his rookie 2009-10 season between the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers and the Louisiana IceGators of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). The majority of the year was spent in Las Vegas where he accumulated an 8-3-2 record in 14 appearances with a 2.92 goals against average, a 0.913 save percentage and one shutout. In 12 games with the IceGators, Spratt notched a 4-6-0 mark.

For his professional career, Spratt has banked a 19-13-2 record in 41 games.

Prior to turning professional, the 6-1, 185 lb goaltender completed a four-year career with the NCAA's Bowling Green State University Falcons. In 100 games played at school, Spratt amassed a record of 27-62-5. He also accumulated a 3.45 goals against average, three shutouts and a 0.883 save percentage. During his time in university, Spratt won the team's Bill and Helen Lloyd Award for most improved player during the 2006-07 season.

Spratt, a seventh round draft choice (#213 overall) of the Calgary Flames in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, spent three years prior to attending school in the United States Hockey League (USHL). As a member of the Sioux City Musketeers between 2002-03 and 2004-05, Spratt was 49-23-10 in 94 career games. His record included five shutouts, a 0.912 save percentage, and a goals against average of 2.71.
