Rylan Toth Stops 40 Shots; Rebels Win 3-1 over Medicine Hat

In the first meeting between these two clubs since the Tigers knocked the Rebels out of last year's playoffs, the Rebels sought their fourth win in a row and sixth straight at home.

FIRST PERIOD

The Rebels opened the scoring on a 5-on-3 powerplay. Grayson Pawlenchuk kicked the puck from his skate to stick before going top shelf from alonng the goal line for his 6th goal of the year. The dynamic import duo of Ivan Nikolishin and Michael Spacek set up the pretty powerplay goal 15:58 into the game.

SECOND PERIOD

Presten Kopeck, playing in his 200th WHL game, made it 2-0 with a slick tip-in of a Colton Bobyk point shot. Kopeck's 2nd of the year, set up also by Nelson Nogier, came 2:16 into the middle frame.

The Rebels went up 3-0 three and a half minutes later on a hard working play by Adam Musil. The St. Louis Blues draft pick stole the puck from behind the Tigers net, came out and fired one past goalie Austin Lotz for his 2nd goal of the season.

THIRD PERIOD

After poruing on the pressure throughout the entire period, Medicine Hat finally broke through with 3:19. Ty Stanton fired one past Rylan Toth for his first goal of the season to make it a 3-1 game.

Medicine Hat pulled the goalie with 2:49 and carried the play the rest of the way but were unable to score again. The Rebels held on for a 3-1 victory.

Braden Purtill made his Rebels debut after being acquired Wednesday from Tri City, wearing #18... Rebels fans supported a pair of great causes in a big way Saturday night, raising funds for both the Bott family from Withrow and the United Way of Central Alberta... attendance for the game was 5209
