Published on October 24, 2015 under Western Hockey League (WHL) News Release
Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League in association with the Western Hockey League and the host Vancouver Giants hockey club today announced that tickets for the 2016 BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game are now on sale.
The 21st annual game, which will be held at Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 6:00pm, will feature the CHL's top-40 NHL draft eligible players as selected by NHL Central Scouting in a best-on-best showcase including talent from the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League competing before hundreds of NHL scouts in attendance.
Notable alumni of the BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game include NHL stars like Steven Stamkos, Carey Price, Drew Doughty and Connor McDavid as well as current Vancouver Canucks like Bo Horvat, Brandon Sutter, Jake Virtanen, and Jared McCann.
2016 will mark the eighth time the game will be hosted by the WHL and the second time the game will be played in Vancouver. Since joining the league in 2001, the Giants have had nine players compete in the event with four of them chosen in the first round of the NHL Draft the same season. That list includes Mark Fistric (Dallas Stars, 2004), Gilbert Brule (Columbus Blue Jackets, 2005), Jonathan Blum (Nashville Predators, 2007) and Evander Kane (Atlanta Thrashers, 2009). Brule remains the only player in the history of the event to record a hat-trick. He also added an assist on home ice in 2005 where he was named Player of the Game, captaining Team Cherry to an 8-4 victory over Team Davidson.
Ticket prices for the 2016 BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game range from $19-$49 plus applicable fees and can be purchased at VancouverGiants.com, TicketLeader.ca, by calling the Vancouver Giants office or at the Pacific Coliseum box office which is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm or during all Vancouver Giants home games.
