Portland, OR - Rylan Parenteau made 36 saves for the Prince Albert Raiders, leading them to their first road win of the season and a 4-0 decision over the Portland Winterhawks on Tuesday night at the Moda Center.
The shutout was Parenteau's first of his Western Hockey League career and came against one of the most potent offences over the past five seasons. The native of Saskatoon came up with a number of big saves throughout the night, but would face the most action in the third period where he made 15 stops to preserve the win. The Raiders became just the second team to shutout the Winterhawks in the regular season since 2012.
Four Raiders notched their first goals of the season in Tuesday's game. Vojtech Budik scored his first WHL goal to open the scoring, while Brendan Guhle supplied the insurance marker in his return from the Buffalo Sabres. Tim Vanstone and Dylan Stewart also scored for Prince Albert. Stewart led the Raiders with two points on the night.
In goal for Portland, Adin Hill kicked out 36 of 40 shots.
The Raiders outshot the Winterhawks 40-36. Prince Albert went 1-for-3 on the power play, while Portland was 0-for-3.
The Raiders notch their first win of their season-long six-game road trip and bring their record to 5-2-0-1. The Winterhawks drop to 1-5-0-0 on the campaign.
The Prince Albert Raiders will play again tomorrow, October 14, as they travel to take on the Tri-City Americans. Puck drop is 8:05 PM CST. The team returns to the Art Hauser Centre on Friday, October 23, when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors in their Pink in the Rink game. Funds raised will support the Canadian Cancer Society.
