Rush For The Arts At The Dahl, December 3

(Rapid City, SD)- Thursday, December 3, The Rush Hockey Team and the Rapid City Arts Council will hold a "Rush for the Arts at the Dahl- Event from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Dahl Arts Center on 7th Street. Rush for the Arts at the Dahl is being held to raise awareness of the final week of ticket sales for the Sweet Home Dakota House Raffle. By working together The Rush organization will promote their ticket sales, players, and dance team to build community support for hockey.

"We think this is a good way to get the arts and sports communities to mingle. The Rapid City Arts Council promotes sports/arts activities with our annual Dahl Mountain Culture Festival in the spring. This is an extension of that outreach to bring divergent segments of our community together to build support for each other," said co-organizer Darla Drew Lerdal, Assistant Director of the Dahl.

Rush team members will be on hand to sign autographs and conduct hockey stick handling techniques. Rush players will be available from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. From 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm the Rapid City Rush's cheer and dance team, The Rushettes, will be signing autographs for fans and perform dance routines in the John T. Vucurevich Event Center at the Dahl. Rush team mascot, Nugget, will be present at the event and will help out by entertaining Rush fans. Rush Flagship radio station 100.3 The Fox will be promoting the event live from the Dahl. Darcy Zandstra, Rush Director of Sales and Marketing and co-organizer said, "This is a great opportunity for the Rush to show its involvement in all facets of the community. This evening will provide an opportunity for The Dahl to educate our fans about the local arts council and it provides Rapid City Rush an exclusive introduction to the variety of culture the Rapid City community has to offer. We look forward to Rush for the Arts becoming an annual event."

The event will provide many opportunities for drawings and give-away items. There will be an opportunity to sign up for 4 free Club Level tickets to a Rush Game ($128.00), a pass to the Junior Rushettes Dance Camp session ($50), Rush gear and other giveaway items. The Rapid City Arts Council will have a drawing for 2 Winter Music Series Concert tickets ($96.00) and a

chance to purchase a $100 house raffle ticket that could win you a new home. The home is valued at approximately $215,000.00.

Pepsi Cola will be providing free beverages and the Rapid City Arts Council will provide snacks for attendees.

The Rapid City Arts Council will sell tickets for the Sweet Home Dakota House Raffle Tickets at Rush for the Arts at the Dahl night. The Arts Council will be in the final two weeks of conducting ticket sales for the house raffle. The house raffle drawing is scheduled for December 14. Tickets for the house raffle are $100 and with a minimum of 3,000 tickets with a maximum of 5,000 tickets sold. The new home raffle is the largest fundraiser ever conducted by the Rapid City Arts Council.

The Rapid City Arts Council Education staff will conduct a hands-on art activity for all kids attending Rush for the Arts. Children will be using hockey pucks and sticks dipped in paint to stencil and make their mark on a large painting made just for this event.
