
Bucks Sweep Season Series With Mudbugs

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 4-2 Friday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The Bucks improve to 8-3-3 (19 points) as they snapped their two-game winless streak.
Four different Bucks scored in the win, with J. P Levasseur stopping 31 of 33 shots to improve to 7-1-2 in net.
The Bucks swept the regular season series (2-0) from the Mudbugs for the first time in team history.
The Bucks jumped out quick on the Mudbugs (7-8 overall) as they scored two goals in the first 3:43 of the game.
Mike Sgroi gave Laredo a 1-0 edge just 2:53 into the game when he scored on a breakaway off of a pass from Eric Giosa. The tally was Sgroi's first of the season. The Bucks improve to 6-0-2 this season when scoring first.
Laredo increased their lead to 2-0 at the 3:43 mark of the first when they struck on the power-play. Adam Rivet scored from the point off of a snap shot just 30 seconds into the man advantage. The strike was Rivet's fourth of the season, and ties him with Brent Cullaton for fifth place all-time in Bucks history with 71 career goals.
The Mudbugs cut the lead to 2-1 with 3:58 left in the first when Tyrel Lucas scored off of a turnover in the Bucks zone. It was Lucas' first goal of the season just his third game.
Laredo was outshot in the first period 12-11.
The Bucks (4-1-3 at home) would make it 3-1 with 4:13 left in the second when Eric Giosa poked in a loose puck right in front of the Mudbugs net. Giosa picked up his third goal of the season (all at home).
The Mudbugs outshot the Bucks in the second period 16-5, with Levasseur stopping all 16 attempts to hold Laredo's 3-1 lead after two periods. Levassuer got some help from the Bucks penalty killing unit in the second, as Laredo killed off a 50 second two-man advantage.
Laredo improves to 7-0-1 when leading after two periods this season.
Justin Styffe put the Bucks up 4-1 when he scored a shorthanded breakaway goal with 5:13 left in the third. The goal was Styffe's third of the year, including his second breakaway tally.
Joe Blaznek made it 4-2 Bucks with 4:16 left in the third when he potted his fifth of the year.
The Bucks outshot the Mudbugs in the third, but were outshot in the game 33-30.
John DeCaro stopped 26 of 30 shots in a losing cause for Bossier.
The Bucks ended their season-high five-game homestand with a 3-1-1 mark.
Friday night Igor Agarunov tied Steve Weidlich for third-place all-time in Bucks history with 301 games played.
The Bucks will travel to Corpus Christi Saturday night, and will host the Ice Rays Sunday at the LEC.
