Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas -It was an ugly showing by the Texas Brahmas Friday evening in Tulsa as they lost 6-2 to the Oilers on the road.

The Brahmas entered the game with a flawless 5-0 record when scoring first in a game and looked to keep the streak going when winger Matt Burto took a feed from Lee Jubinville along the boards and scored on Kevin Armstrong for the first score of the evening. Texas went into the intermission with heads held high and a one goal lead.

Things did not go the Brahmas way in the second, giving up four goals in the 20 minute frame. It was two quick Oilers goals that jump started the Tulsa offense and put them up by one goal. At the 9:49 mark a wristshot by Tom Maldonado found its way past Palmer for his third of the season and Tulsa's third of the night. The bleeding continued for the sluggish Texas team when with exactly one minute remaining in the second Tyler Butler beat Palmer on the powerplay with a screen to conclude the four goal period.

The scoring brigade continued for the Oil as Jake Riddle sat on the doorstep of Palmer and tipped in a centering feed for the 5-1 lead. A sixth scorer for Tulsa, Michel Beausoleil, put the sixth tally up for the Oilers when he skated in and took a shot to Palmer's left. A bittersweet goal for Burto, his second, put the game 6-2, but the effort was not enough as Texas now holds a 1-1 record against Tulsa.

Texas will pick themselves back up and head back South to face the Allen Americans tomorrow night at the Allen Event Center at 7:30 PM. On Sunday the Brahmas will be home to conclude their 4 games in 5 days and their "Military Nights" series. Immediately following the 4:05 PM game at the NYTEX Sports Centre will be a game worn jersey auction of the special "Lady Liberty" jerseys the Brahmas wore Wednesday and will wear Sunday. All military personnel can purchase a ticket for half price (must show military I.D.) at the Brahmas Box Office. For more information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423.
