Rush Complete Weekend Sweep of the Jacks

January 30, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rapid City Rush News Release

Odessa, TX - On Saturday night, the Rapid City Rush earned a weekend sweep of the Odessa Jackalopes, posting a 3-1 victory at the Ector County Coliseum. Ryan Menei extended his point streak to eleven games, while Konrad Reeder now has goals in each of the last six contests, both all-time highs for Rapid City. The Rush are now 4-0-0 as they continue on their season-long, eight-game road trip.

One night after combining for eleven goals, the Rush and Jacks were held scoreless until the second period, where the game was ultimately decided. Potting the game's first goal was Ryan Menei who tucked a shot under the crossbar from the goal mouth at the 2:08 mark. The Jackalopes answered back ten minutes later when Mike Ramsay's centering pass was tapped home by Philippe Plante. Late in the period, the Rush were awarded a two-man advantage and found the eventual game winner with just 23 seconds left in the frame. Konrad Reeder found Menei at the point who then laid a pass over to Vladimir Hartinger, allowing the veteran defenseman to rocket a shot over the glove of goaltender David McKee. Hartinger's goal was his seventh of the season, second in as many games, and first game-winner of the year.

With four seconds left in regulation, Konrad Reeder sent in an empty net goal to secure the 3-1 win for Rapid City.

Danny Battochio made 32 saves for his 16th win of the year, while David McKee was dealt his first regulation loss of the season.

The Rush take on the Allen Americans tomorrow at 1pm MST. Tune into 100.3 the FOX for live coverage.
