December 10, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - Friday night at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center featured 'United Way Night with the Rush' as the Rapid City Rush hosted the Arizona Sundogs in the first of eight meetings this season. Led by multi-point efforts by veterans Jesse Schultz and Shawn Limpright, along with a 21-save effort by Danny Battochio, the Rush earned a 4-2 win. The triumph gives the Rush nine straight wins over the Sundogs dating back to last season, and a 15-5-0 all-time record against Arizona. The two teams are back at it tomorrow at 7:05pm and tickets are available by calling 716-PUCK (7825) or 24-hours a day at www.gotmine.com.
Opening the scoring was veteran Scott Wray, scoring his fourth goal of the season on a rebound from the right side of the net at the 6:44 mark of the first.
Rapid City doubled the lead just twenty-three second into the second when Shawn Limpright capitalized on a solid cross-ice pass from Jesse Schultz with a deke to the backhand past Sundog goaltender Scott Reid. Four minutes later, Craig Macdonald also scored his first of the game, cutting Rapid City's lead to one. However, after a nice set up by new returnee, Derek Knowles, Schultz slammed in a shot from the low-slot, giving the Rush a 3-1 lead with just nineteen seconds left in the period.
Finally, with 1:04 left on the clock, the Craig Macdonald netted his second of the night while on the powerplay and with the extra Sundog attacker on the ice, but Shawn Limpright secured the 4-2 win with an empty net goal in the closing seconds.
