
Lopsided Power Play Count Drops Sundogs, 7-0

RAPID CITY, SD - A 16-6 power play count in favor of the Rapid City Rush propelled them to a 7-0 shutout win over the Arizona Sundogs on Saturday night at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in front of 4,749.
The shutout was the second suffered this season by the Sundogs. Rapid City scored four second period goals to break open a 2-0 lead thanks to a string of five consecutive penalties, and 10 total in the period, called against Arizona that resulted in three separate 5-on-3 power plays for the Rush.
Three of Rapid City's goals in the game came on the man-advantage. There was a stretch early in the second period carrying over to the middle of the third where 11 of 13 penalties called in the game went against Arizona.
Konrad Reeder, Les Reaney on the power play, Shawn Limpright shorthanded, and Jesse Schultz were the second period goal scorers for the Rush.
Danny Battochio stopped 33 shots to earn his second shutout the of the season as Rapid City sweeps the two-game set against the Sundogs this weekend.
Levi Lind and Limpright each scored in the first period to give the Rush the 2-0 advantage. Schultz scored the only goal of the third period to cap the scoring.
Scott Reid took the loss for Arizona after a 33-save night.
The Sundogs kick off a four-game home stand next Tuesday against the Quad City Mallards at 7:05 PM MST at Tim's Toyota Center.
