WINNIPEG - The American Association announced today that Winnipeg Goldeyes pitcher Matt Rusch is the league's Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending September 2.

Rusch, 29, made two starts last week. He was 2-0 and allowed just one run in 14.1 innings. He led the Goldeyes to a 4-0 win over the St. Paul Saints on August 27 that gave the Goldeyes a three-game lead in the wild card race and helped Winnipeg defeat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 5-1 on Saturday night by striking out 13. The win clinched the wild card for the Goldeyes.

Aside from boasting a 10-4 record, Rusch leads the American Association with a 2.40 ERA and is tied for the league lead in strikeouts with 113, which matches Rick Forney for the fifth most all-time by a Goldeyes pitcher in a season.

The Goldeyes finish the regular season tonight against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at 7:00 p.m. and begin their best-of-five American Association Divisional Series with the RedHawks in Fargo on Wednesday.

Great seats for tonight's game and the playoffs are available through Ticketmaster by clicking on Ticketmaster.ca, calling 1-855-GOLDEYE or visiting any Ticketmaster location, including the Shaw Park box office.
