FARGO, ND - Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 3B Eric Campbell and RHP Tyler Herron have been selected as the Rawlings American Association Player and Pitcher of the Month for August, the league office announced Monday. The selections were made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the American Association.

Campbell batted .356 with seven doubles, eight home runs, 24 RBI and 29 runs scored in 28 games for the RedHawks. He walked 13 times and posted a .431 on-base percentage and a .663 slugging percentage.

This season, Campbell is batting .351 with 19 doubles, two triples, 13 home runs, 54 RBI and 49 runs scored in 53 games. He joined the RedHawks in early July after starting the season with the Jackson Generals, the Seattle Mariners affiliate in the Southern League (AA).

Herron made six starts in August for the RedHawks and was a perfect 6-0 with a 2.11 ERA. In 42.2 innings pitched, he allowed 11 runs (ten earned) on 27 hits. Herron struck out 37 batters, walked just nine and held opponents to a .176 batting average against him.

In 2012, Herron is 12-3 with a 3.29 ERA in 23 games (17 starts). He has allowed 53 runs (45 earned) on 113 hits in 123.0 innings pitched. Herron has struck out a team-high 105 batters and walked only 30 hitters this season. He is tied for second in the American Association in wins and is sixth in strikeouts.
