Akron RubberDucks News Release

The Reading Fightin' Phils scored three runs in the top of the 10th inning to win 9-6 after the Akron RubberDucks rallied to tie it at 6-6 in the bottom of the ninth on Thursday night at Canal Park.

Turning Point

After Akron tied up the ballgame at 6-6 in the bottom of the ninth, Reading's Austin Listi answered with a two-out, bases-loaded, three-run double just past the reach of leftfielder Daniel Johnson.

Mound Presence

Jake Paulson battled through some early troubles for the RubberDucks to limit the Reading offense to four runs in 4.2 innings. Akron's bullpen struggled and surrendered the 5-4 Akron lead with runs in the sixth and seventh innings, then allowed the deciding three-run double in the top of the tenth. Akron's pitching staff struck out 13 but combined for 10 walks.

Duck Tales

The RubberDucks ended a 23-inning scoreless streak with the two-run home run from DH Wilson Garcia in the first inning, his third of the season. The other big run-producing hit for Akron was Logan Ice's three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning, which put Akron up 5-4 at the time. It was Ice's first home run of the season. Six RubberDucks managed hits as part of the seven-hit effort with Connor Marabell leading the way with a pair of singles. Newly acquired Drew Stankiewicz went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two walks in his Canal Park debut.
