Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals notched five goals in the final 40 minutes as they topped the Vancouver Giants 6-1 in a chippy contest on Saturday night.

The Royals' Jack Walker, named the first star of the game, tallied two goals in the last two periods. Matthew Phillips and Tyler Soy registered markers in the final frame, while Dante Hannoun scored the game winner early in the second stanza. Ethan Price notched Victoria's first goal midway through the opening period when he beat Giants' netminder Ryan Kubic for the Teddy Bear marker. Vancouver's lone goal was scored by Chase Lang.

In a rough contest, both teams combined for a total of 118 penalty minutes with the Royals and Giants amassing 39 and 51 penalty minutes in the third period respectively.

Victoria goaltender Griffen Outhouse was sharp on the night as he stopped 33 of the 34 pucks directed his way. Vancouver netminder Kubic made 16 saves on 19 shots through the first two periods, before being replaced by Jake Morrissey who stopped 10 of 13 shots. Both teams held a 1/425.0% mark on the powerplay throughout the contest.

Victoria continues their homestand tomorrow against the Giants in their final home game before the holiday break. Sunday will see Victoria in a matinee match-up beginning at 3:05 p.m. with a skate with the Royals taking place after the game.
