Everett Silvertips News Release
KENT, Wash. - Patrick Bajkov scored a pair of goals to help the Everett Silvertips rip four unanswered goals, en route to a 4-1 victory over the host Seattle Thunderbirds before a crowd of 4,042 at ShoWare Center on Saturday night.
The win boosted the Silvertips to their third straight road victory, moving to within two points of the U.S Division lead while handing Seattle their first regulation loss at home this season, snapping a streak of 11-0-1 to begin the year (Seattle last lost, 5-2 to Portland at home on Feb. 28).
Remi Laurencelle, who scored the eventual game winner, earned the 100th point in his WHL career.
Turner Ottenbreit opened the scoring on a drive from the slot at 12:44 for a 1-0 lead, but the Silvertips continued to play with an unfazed complexion and outshot the Thunderbirds, 16-7 in the opening period.
Carter Hart, who had 26 saves for the win, turned in his most impressive save on a Jamal Watson breakaway and Spencer Gerth galvanized the Silvertips bench in a scrap with Seattle defenseman Jared Hauf. Bajkov followed to knot the score with 3:31 left in the second period, taking Mackenzie Dwyer's feed at the left circle and ripping a wrister through traffic.
Just 44 seconds into the third period, Laurencelle finished a three-on-one attack at the right circle, set up by Carson Stadnyk for a 2-1 lead when the Silvertips exploited a Seattle turnover at center ice.
Cole MacDonald built the cusion to 3-1 on a power play goal following Seattle captain Jerret Smith's roughing penalty, and with MacDonald set up at the left circle for a re-direction from Laurencelle and Brycen Martin at 8:58.
Bajkov essentially sealed the game at 4-1 with 7:53 left, converting Matt Fonteyne's breakaway pass with a forehand tuck on Logan Flodell's stick side.
Flodell took the loss with 30 saves. Hart improved to 4-0-2 lifetime against Seattle.
