Victoria Royals News Release

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals allowed three goals in the opening frame as they fell 4-2 to the Vancouver Giants on Sunday afternoon.

Vancouver netminder Ryan Kubic, who was named the game's first star, stymied the Royals' offence throughout the contest. Kubic stopped 29 of the 31 shots he faced, despite Victoria hitting the post on multiple occasions.

The Giants' Alec Baer tallied twice, while Ben Thomas and Jack Flaman notched Vancouver's other markers. The Royals received goals from Jack Walker and Alex Forsberg, both on the powerplay.

Victoria netminder Coleman Vollrath was in goal for the first period, stopping eight of 11 shots directed his way. The Royals opted for Griffen Outhouse in the second period, who made 22 saves on 23 shots. With the appearance, Vollrath has now passed former Chilliwack Bruin Lucas Gore for the most games played by a goaltender in franchise history at 142.

The Royals held a 2/3=66.7% on the powerplay. The Giants were unable to capitalize on the man-advantage and went 0/4=0.0%.

Victoria will now head to Vancouver to face the Giants this Wednesday before traveling to Prince George for two games versus the Cougars on Friday, December 18th and Saturday, December 19th. Puck drop for all three contests is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
