Victoria Royals News Release
Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals are ready to take on the Vancouver Giants in the 2021-22 home opener presented by Evo Car Share on Saturday night.
Saturday night marks the first time in 581 days fans will be in the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for a regular season game after the pandemic sent the team to the Re/Max Hub Centre in Kelowna last season. The team has been gearing up all week to hear the #ReturnoftheRoar from the crowd.
"We're excited to be back in front of our tremendous fans," said GM and Head Coach Dan Price. "The pre-season has given us valuable preparation time. The team is enthusiastic and ready to compete. I'm looking forward to watching the level of competition and speed in this game and throughout the season."
The home opener presented by Evo Car Share, will be a game fans won't want to miss with door prizes, a live DJ and Victoria's very own Marty the Marmot. The game will be dedicated to heroes of the pandemic who risked their lives every day to serve the Victoria community. These guests include the Royal Canadian Navy, a plumber, the Victoria Police Department, a trades worker, a server, a grocer, a pharmacist and many others that deserve our gratitude and support for their service.
Attendees can expect to see their favourite players like NHL draft pick Gannon Laroque, veteran Graeme Bryks and Swiss born forward Keanu Derungs. There will be a few new faces on the roster like brothers Wyatt and Anthony Wilson, Russian forward Igor Zborovskiy and former Grande Prairie Storm forward Devin Aubin.
