Regina Pats News Release

Regina, Sask. - The Seattle Kraken have assigned 2001-born defenceman Ryker Evans (Calgary, AB) to the Regina Pats.

Evans, 19, was recently selected in the second round (#35 overall) by the Kraken in the 2021 NHL Draft. Kraken management was impressed by Evans first NHL camp appearance, as he "turned heads of campmates, coaches and front office executives while playing responsible defense and showing his puck-carrying and playmaking skills," according to Seattle Kraken editor-in-chief Bob Condor.

After an impressive first training camp with the #SeaKraken, draft choices Ryker Evans and Jacob Melanson now return home to continue their development along with six other prospects.

Originally drafted by the Pats in the 10th round (209th overall) of the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft, Evans suited up in one pre-season game for the Kraken, playing this past Tuesday against the Edmonton Oilers, where he skated 20:39 and registered two hits and two blocks. With the Pats, Evans has compiled 70 points in 131 games over two and a half seasons (11G-59A).

During the bubble season, the 6-foot, 191 lb. defenceman led all WHL defensemen in assists with 25 and was second in points with 28, while serving as assistant captain.
