Reading Royals News Release

Until tonight, the Sovereign Center was home, sweet home. The Royals (31-18-8), who had not lost at home in regulation since Halloween, were defeated by in-state rival, Johnstown, 4-3. The setback dropped Reading to 21-2-3 on home ice, as they now trail the Chiefs (34-17-6) by four points in the Northern Division standings. The Royals are now 3-5-0 in the Keystone Cup series.

Reading trailed 4-1halfway through the third period, before mounting a late comeback. The home team hit two crossbars in the game's final minutes, but couldn't find the back of the net, falling just short of sending the game into overtime. Forwards Kent Davyduke, Lars Pettersen, and Peter Hay notched goals for the Royals, while Tomas Slovak added two assists. Reading has now lost three straight contests, falling behind by at least two goals in each of those defeats.

Cody Rudkowsky took the loss for the Royals, stopping 14 of the 18 shots he faced. The loss marked the first time at home this season that Reading allowed four goals.
