
Right Wing DeCecco and Rookie Defenseman Malcolm Hutt Traded to Alaska

Peoria, Ill. (March 3, 2004) â Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that third-year right wing Bret DeCecco and rookie defenseman Malcolm Hutt, who has been activated from the 7-day injured reserve, have been traded to the Alaska Aces for financial and future considerations. Christie also announced that defenseman Doug MacIver, who has also been activated from the 7-day injured reserve, has been traded to the Reading Royals for financial considerations.
DeCecco â a 5-foot-11, 197-pound native of Sherwood Park, Alberta â collected 24 points (10g, 14a) and 92 penalty minutes (PIM) in 54 games for the Rivermen this season â his third with the club. The 23-year-old registered 82 points (36g, 46a) and 202 PIM in 154 career Rivermen games. He was acquired halfway through his rookie season (2001-2002) from Greensboro Generals for left wing Dennis Maxwell.
Hutt â a 6-foot, 190-pound native of Wellesley, Ontario â notched six assists in 37 games with Peoria. The 21-year-old signed with the Rivermen as a free agent on December 4, 2003 after opening the season with the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks of Canadian Interuniversity Sports (CIS).
MacIver â a 6-foot-5, 223-pound native of King City, Ontario â posted 53 PIM and three assists in 17 games with the Rivermen. The 23-year-old, who was signed as a free agent on January 15, will be joining his fourth team in 2003-2004. He opened the year with the Charlotte Checkers before his acquisition by the Fresno Falcons on November 14, 2003 for financial considerations.
The Rivermen host the archrival Toledo Storm on Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6. Game times are 7:00 p.m. at Carver Arena. On Friday, it is another Coca-Cola Finally Friday. Fans receive a 2-for-1 Upper Bowl admission when they present a Cherry Coke or Vanilla Coke can at the Carver Arena Box Office. On Saturday, Christian Rock Group "Jars of Clay" will perform in a post-game concert, courtesy of the Berean Bookstore. The first 5,000 fans will also receive a Rivermen Team Photo, courtesy of Mac's and Big Foot Convenience Stores.
