Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals tallied four goals in the opening period to down the Prince George Cougars 6-2 on Sunday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

The Royals' pair of Dante Hannoun and Vladimir Bobylev each registered three assists to help pace Victoria to a 6-2 victory. Victoria's Tyler Soy tallied the game winner in the first period, while Jared Dmytriw, Alex Forsberg, and Ryan Gagnon notched the other markers in the opening 20 minutes. Royals' rookie Brayden Pachal scored the first goal of his WHL career late in the second period, before Jack Walker closed out the scoring in the final frame. The Cougars' goal scorers were Chase Witala and Kody McDonald.

The Royals started netminder Coleman Vollrath in goal, who stopped 34 of the 36 shots he faced. Both goalies split duties for the Cougars as Ty Edmonds turned aside 16 of the 20 pucks directed his way, while Nick McBride made 11 saves of the 13 shots he faced.

Victoria went 0/6=0.0% on the man-advantage. Prince George capitalized once on the powerplay to go 1/8=12.5% on the night.
