St. Cloud, MN - Brett Bonar (Nebraska-Omaha) drove in two-runs in the ninth inning, but St. Cloud (19-14) dropped the series finale to Mankato (15-19) by a score of 10-7.
The Rox struck first in the bottom of the first inning following a sac-fly RBI from Gus Steiger (South Dakota State) and took a 1-0 lead.
Down 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning, Jordan Barth (Augustana) doubled and scored Steiger to cut the deficit to one run.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, St. Cloud reclaimed the lead with three runs. Garrett Delano (Brown) singled and brought home Steiger. Hance Smith (California-Berkeley) would later follow with an RBI-single and scored Steiger. Jack Kelly (Northwestern) grounded out to second base but scored Delano in the process to put St. Cloud ahead 5-3.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Rox trailed 10-5 but got to work at the plate. With the bases loaded, Bonar blooped a two-run single into right field that scored two runs. The rally would end shortly after.
Ben Dotzler (Creighton) started the game and pitched five innings. Lucas Gather (California-Berkeley), Max Rippl (Kent State), Blake Stelzer (Concordia-St. Paul) and Kevin Davis (USC Upstate) all saw action out of the bullpen.
