St. Cloud Rox News Release
St. Cloud, MN - St. Cloud (6-0) remained the only undefeated team left in the Northwoods League with a 7-3 win over Mankato (5-2) on Sunday afternoon.
The Rox pulled away with a four-run fifth inning and never looked back. In a one-run game, Charlie Condon (Georgia) tripled to right and drove in two runs to put St. Cloud in command once again.
Trevor Austin (Mercer) continued his hot start to his summer with two more RBI's after driving in a couple of runs on Friday night. Austin drove in the Rox' first and last runs of the contest in just his second game in St. Cloud.
The start on the mound went to Joe Battaglia (Southern) who returned for his second season with the Rox. Battaglia struck out seven batters over five solid inning and earned his first victory of the summer.
The bullpen allowed just one run combined. Joseph Brandon (Georgia State) made his debut and got six outs in the sixth and seventh. He was followed by Logan Herrera (Minot State), who tossed a scoreless eighth in his third outing of the year.
Finally, Zane Badmaev (Tarleton State) continues to look like a legitimate late-inning option for the Rox. Badmaev threw a perfect ninth to finish off the Rox sixth consecutive win.
