Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. - The most exciting in all of the sports is a home run in baseball. Well, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters powered out two bombs against the Wausau Woodchucks en route to a 13-2 victory and the Rafters sixth straight victory.
The first inning was scoreless, as Rafters starter Michael Lindsey and Woodchucks starter DJ Radtke pitched out of danger. However, after a scoreless top half of the second, the Rafters offense came to life in the bottom scoring two runs off of a long homer off the bat of Seth Stroh. Stroh's first hit as a Rat was one that cleared the video board in right-center field. The Rafters put up three more in the third off of an E7 throwing error, and a two-run single from Jack Rogers to put Wisconsin Rapids ahead 5-0.
Michael Lindsey was done after the third, as he threw three scoreless while striking out three Woodchucks. Caden Favors would assume pitching duties in the fourth for the Rafters, as he gave up two runs to Wausau in the fourth to make it 5-2. The Rats bats came out ready to answer in the fifth as they hung up six runs. Seth Stroh got the scoring started in the inning with a two-run double, and then Joe Osborn also got a two-run double to join the hit parade. Two more runs scored via a wild pitch and an RBI ground by Stone Miyao.
Favors threw three innings while giving up both Woodchuck runs and striking out two. He also received the win on the afternoon. Brendan Bobo, the reigning Northwoods League Offensive Player of the Night, defended his title well as he hit a solo shot in the sixth. Rafters scored one more in the eighth to put them up 13-2. Jake Dahle, Ben Adams, and Alec Burnett each all threw one scoreless inning over the last three frames.
The Rafters will go to Wausau tomorrow night to take on the Woodchucks at 6:35 pm. Tune in on WFHR at 6:20 pm to listen to the game with Brett Loftis.
