Duluth Huskies News Release
Duluth, Minn - Mother nature would not play nice for the series opener between the Duluth Huskies and Bismarck Larks in North Dakota. Even with the prevalent damp conditions, the traveling Huskies performed to their peak, snagging a 7-2 victory over the hometown Larks.
A pitcher's duel was on display in the opening three innings of the contest. It was a Michael Sarhatt two-out RBI single to score Devin Hurdle to open the scoring in the top of the fourth inning.
Eduardo Rosario brought home Kristian Campbell on an odd infield single to extend the lead to 3-0. Hurdle provided the men in navy with an RBI triple scoring his Omaha University and Huskie teammate Rosario. A wild pitch later in the inning allowed Hurdle to trot home to get the advantage to 5-0 for the visiting squad.
Devin Dodson toed the rubber for the Huskies in the opener, providing his squad seven scoreless innings on two hits and seven punchouts to his credit. A solid overall performance for the Friends University product granted a win for himself in his second start of the 2022 Northwoods League season. Dodson's record now rests at 1-1 on the campaign. Trent Johnson and Caleb Gallant each tossed an inning for Duluth in relief.
Sloppy fielding in the infield was the kryptonite for the Larks. Multiple bobbled and botched plays allowed the Huskies to prevail on the base paths to extend the lead in a game in which the Huskies never trailed. All nine Duluth batters reached base in some form on the night.
The win pushes Duluth (4-3) to a winning record for the first time this summer. Bismarck slides to 3-2 following the loss on their home field.
The Huskies will be at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark Monday night to battle the Larks to cap off a two-game set in the North Dakota capital. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm CT.
