St. Cloud Rox News Release
St. Cloud, MN - The St. Cloud Rox defeated the Waterloo Bucks Friday night as they rallied for the go-ahead run in the seventh inning to win 7-6 over the Bucks at Joe Faber Field. The Rox (15-14, 34-30) scored three runs apiece in the second and third innings to jump out to a quick lead over Waterloo, but the Bucks scored just as many in the following two innings to tie the game before the Rox broke through with the winner in the seventh, which now puts them just 2.5 games out of first place in the second half of the North Division.
Charles Galiano got the scoring going for the Rox in the second inning with an RBI single to score Will Craig, which was followed by a two-RBI single from Mitchell Kranson. They tallied three more the following inning after Galiano doubled to score Seth Heck and Kade Scivicque to give the Rox a six-run lead through three.
The Bucks then put up four runs in the fourth, which knocked Rox starter Austin Caspersen out of the game as he finished the night after 3.2 innings while allowing no earned runs and five hits. From there, Tyler Peitzmeier took over on the mound and threw 4.1 innings with two unearned runs given up in the fifth inning, which tied the game at six.
The score remained the same until the seventh inning, when Galiano hit one deep to left field, which bounced off the glove of Waterloo's Jon McAllister to score Scivicque and give the Rox the lead. They held on for the victory as Dalton Sawyer came on for the close in the ninth and collected his fifth save of the season.
For the Rox, Chris Paul led the way with a 3-for-5 effort at the plate and Charles Galiano finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs while Scivicque and Clay Ardeeser each finished with two hits as well.
The Rox continue their home stand tomorrow night as they begin a two-game series with the Eau Claire Express beginning at 6:05 p.m. at Joe Faber Field. Tomorrow night is the second annual Wine, Women and Baseball Night, presented by Westside Liquor and Nick's Third Floor at D.B. Searles, which includes pre-game wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres and pampering stations all beginning at 4:00 p.m. It is also Girl Scout & Boy Scout Night, with an overnight campout on the field after the game.
