Wausau Woodchucks News Release
Wausau, WI - Paul DeJong's go-ahead, three run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning helped the Wisconsin Woodchucks defeat the Kenosha Kingfish 4-2, in a battle for the final playoff spot in the South Division.
With the Woodchucks trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Paul DeJong used a little birthday magic of his own to blast a three-run home run giving the Woodchucks a 3-1 lead.
The two run lead would be all the Woodchucks' pitching staff needed in this contest. The Woodchucks' bullpen combination of Parker Dunshee, Tim McElroy, and Austin Tribby pitched four scoreless innings. Tribby made the ninth a nail-biter as he loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the ninth, but Alex Dunlap flew out to center field to end the game.
The Woodchucks and Kingfish are in a battle for the second playoff spot in the South Division of the Northwoods League. The Woodchucks now hold a one game advantage over the Kingfish, which should be an entertaining final week of the regular season.
The Woodchucks and Kingfish will finish their two-game series tomorrow night for the final home regular season game at Athletic Park. First pitch is set for 5:05.
