St. Cloud Rox News Release

The St. Cloud Rox got a solid performance from their starting pitcher, allowed only two walks and committed no errors in the field on on Monday night. On most nights that would be a recipe for victory in the Northwoods League, but when it rains it pours as the St. Cloud Rox lost to the Thunder Bay Border Cats 3-2.

With the loss the Rox are 5-19 on the season, while the Border Cats improve to 12-14 with the win.

Keaton Siomkin (California) got the call on the hill for the Rox and lasted 5.2 innings with five strikeouts and one walk. He scattered six hits while allowing two runs.

Phil Imholte (St Cloud State) and Carlos Lopez (Cal St Fullerton) each had a pair of hits in the game for the Rox, with Imholte and Andy Henkemeyer (Minnesota) producing the RBI.

The Rox took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a Henkemeyer triple that scored Mark Rhine (Wake Forest) from first base.

The Border Cats tied the game in the top of the fourth but the Rox answered back with Imholte's RBI single to score Nick Tanielu (Washington State) to make the score 2-1.

Thunder Bay tied the game in the top of the sixth and got the game winner in the seventh.

The Rox continue their homestand tomorrow with Timberwolves night by Your Home Improvement Company featuring Timberwolves dancers and mascot Crunch. Tickets for the game against the Thunder Bay Border Cats start at just $6 and can be purchased at www.stcloudrox.com.
