Rochester Honkers News Release
(Rochester, MN) - The Rochester Honkers completed the two-game sweep of the Alexandria Beetles on Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 10-5 in front of 1373 Mayo Field fans. The Honkers have now won six of their last seven ballgames and five straight against the Beetles.
Rochester starter Chris Noble (Pikeville) labored through his 6.0 innings of work allowing three earned runs on three Alexandria solo shots, but still picked up the victory. With the win, Noble's record improves to 2-3 in five starts.
Trevor Podratz (Hawai'i) hit a homerun to lead off the bottom of the second inning and tie the game at 1-1. Podratz finished the day 1 for 2 and is now tied for the league lead with six long balls. The Honkers would score two more in the frame to take an early 3-1 lead.
First baseman Chad Wallach (Cal State Fullerton) had a big day going 4 for 5 at the plate with two runs and five RBIs. Catcher Cole Lankford (Texas A&M) chipped in with two hits including a big two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning to make the Rochester lead 7-3.
The Honkers added three more runs in the eighth to make it 10-3 and put the game out of reach for Alexandria.
Rochester reliever Nick Williams (Tennessee) pitched 2.0 scoreless innings and recorded two strikeouts.
Dylan Nelson (San Mateo) tossed the ninth inning for Rochester and allowed two earned runs with one strikeout.
The Honkers take off for a ten-game road trip starting tomorrow, June 27th in St. Cloud. The Honkers and Rox, who have not yet played each other in 2012, will begin a three-game series at 7:05 PM.
