(Rochester, Minn.) - The St. Cloud Rox pitching staff shutout the Rochester Honkers for the second straight night to take a 9-0 victory Friday at Mayo Field. The win gives the Rox a sweep over the Honkers to improve to 15-13 in the second half and 31-33 overall. The Honkers lost their second straight to drop to 13-15 and 30-34.

Ryan Davis (Georgetown) got the Rox on the board in the first as he crushed his third home run of the year to right to give St. Cloud a 1-0 lead.

In the second, Ryan Weisenberg (Georgetown) gave the Rox a 2-0 advantage as he came around to score on a wild pitch.

Jack Barrie (Reinhardt) singled up the middle to drive in a run and push the St. Cloud lead to 3-0 in the third.

The Rox were able to continue to tack on in the fourth, Ben Carew (Kent State) singled to right to give the Rox a 4-0 lead. Carew drove two more runs in with a double in the sixth to put the Rox up 6-0.

Weisenberg gave the Rox a 8-0 lead in the seventh by launching a two-run home run to give him his fifth of the year.

The Rox were able to pick up one more run in the ninth. Weisenberg singled up the middle to drive in his third run of the game and give the Rox a 9-0 lead.

Honkers starting pitcher Cole Quintanilla (Texas) was the game's losing pitcher. Quintanilla worked six innings surrendering six runs on 10 hits. Erik Edminster (Loras) made his Honkers debut in relief and tossed 1/3 of an inning and gave up two runs on one hit and left the contest with an apparent injury. Jack Nelson (St. Mary's) also made his Honkers debut, he worked 2/3 of an inning and did not give up a run or a hit. Christian Robinson (Stanford) pitched one inning and surrendered one run on three hits. Casey Dunlap (Point Loma Nazarene) came in to work a scoreless ninth inning.

Nate Webb (UC Riverside) and Grayson Bowman (Blue Mountain) both went 2-for-4 to post multi-hit games for Rochester.

St. Cloud starting pitcher Evan Johnson (Creighton) picked up his fifth win after spinning six scoreless innings.

The Honkers will look to bounce back Saturday as they begin a series in Thunder Bay. Matteo Bocchi (Texas) is scheduled to start for the Honkers, the Italy native has a 2-1 record and a 2.76 ERA. Bocchi will be up against Rogelio Reyes (California) from Thunder Bay, Reyes has a 1-1 record and a 8.10 ERA. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
